A comprehensive eye examination is vital to maintaining proper vision and eye health.
A comprehensive eye exam should include a thorough discussion of your symptoms, your general health and your eye health history, a brief neurologic evaluation, measurement of your glasses prescription and eye shape, measurement of your eye pressure (tonometry) as well as examination of the external and internal eye structures.
A through eye examination can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the complexity of the eye problems and the number of symptoms you may have. You may require eye drops that may affect your vision close up vision, so plan accordingly.
We utilize the latest technology for detection of eye disease, as well as maintaining proper eye health. Some of the instruments we utilize:
- Optovue iFusion which offers a wide variety of imaging-from monitoring currently diagnosed eye disease, monitoring proper fit of contact lenses and obtaining a baseline to monitor risk factors for eye diseases.
- Keratograph which offers the ability to monitor Orthokeratology treatment, dry eye evaluations and determining proper fit for contact lenses.
We also have instruments for measuring of peripheral vision, eye length for lens implants, and digital imaging of both the front and back of the eye. Our office is new and so is all the technology!!
