Dr. Zachary Holland, OD, FSLS

Dr. Zac Holland graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2015 after finishing his undergraduate degree at Augustana College in Biology. He has been seeing patients at the Cornea and Contact Lens Institute of Minnesota since 2015 alongside his mentor Dr. Brooke Messer and took full ownership of CCLIM in 2020. He enjoys working with patients that have previously been told they are not a good candidate for contact lenses or have had poor experiences with contacts in the past and are looking for a different experience.

Dr. Holland’s training includes managing advanced level ocular diseases, specialty contact lenses, and some vision therapy along with low vision training at the VA. He has been honored with the distinction of “Fellow” of the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS), which is bestowed on advanced level practitioners within the specialty lens industry. There are less than two hundred people in the world with this honor. He also sits on the board of the Minnesota Contact Lens Society and has published articles as well as given lectures to optometrists across state lines in the field of contact lenses. He is a proud member of the Minnesota Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.

It has always been a pleasure to participate in the training of the next generation’s leaders. At CCLIM, we have been committed, since our inception, to working with students from all over the United States to learn about custom contact lenses. We will continue to be a leading institution in the field of contact lenses when it comes to educating our young and future specialists. This is of special interest to Dr. Holland as he was trained at CCLIM by Dr. Brooke Messer and takes this responsibility to give back to the profession very seriously. CCLIM has always been on the cutting edge of technology and regularly participates in FDA and clinical studies in the attempt to develop new, safe, and effective products for colleagues and patients.

Dr. Holland has made Minnesota his home after a childhood in Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoys working on small woodworking projects, regular exercise, and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes football, basketball, and wrestling teams. Dr. Holland also has a passion for youth sports. He grew up playing baseball and running cross country but excelled in wrestling in high school and college and has previously coached wrestling in the Twin Cities. His free time is mostly taken up by his loving wife (who is also an optometrist) and his young daughter.
